Sieve runs on Apple silicon Macs, macOS 14 or later. The app needs roughly 1 GB of disk, an estimate until the signed build exists, and downloads a 0.86 GB vision model once, on first launch. There is no account and no sign-in.

The first launch
- Sieve looks for your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic catalog and shows what it found. A folder of originals works instead.
- You click once, on the catalog you want.
- It renders and measures your frames in the background. You can start rating straight away, and it resumes if you quit.
- When it has read your rated frames, press Learn. After that, every new set arrives picked.
The Lightroom Classic plug-in
Optional, and only for Lightroom Classic. It carries your stars and flags into the catalog, and puts each shoot's picks there as a collection.
- In Lightroom Classic, open File then Plug-in Manager.
- Click Add and choose the plug-in folder that came with Sieve.
- Leave it enabled. Marks you make in Sieve reach the catalog on their own, in about a second.
Privacy in one paragraph
Sieve runs entirely on your Mac. Your photographs, the renders it makes of them, the measurements it takes and the model it fits all stay on your disk, and there is no account to make and nothing to upload. The app connects to the network twice: once to download the vision model, and once a day to ask whether an update exists. You may turn on anonymous usage counts, which are off until you do. Those counts are numbers only, eight kinds of event, with no file path, folder name, camera serial, photo identifier, thumbnail, embedding, score, name, email or address in them, and no star ever tied to a frame. There is no field anywhere that accepts text, so a path cannot be recorded even by mistake. Turning the counts off again erases what was held and the anonymous install identifier with it.
